For two years now, Mykolaiv has been suffering from a shortage of drinking water. This is due to the Dnipro-Mykolaiv water pipeline being cut off by the Russian invaders, the regional center has become the only city not only in Ukraine but also in the world where salt water from the Dnipro-Bug estuary has been supplied to the system.
Salt water is very corrosive, so restoring the networks will cost billions of hryvnias, and the city will not be able to cope with this on its own.
Realizing the importance of this problem, foreign partners are lending a hand
At present, utilities have begun filling the citys water supply system with industrial water from the river, but it still remains unfit for consumption. Experts do not hide the fact that there is a lot of work to be done, so the full restoration of the water supply system will take more than a year. In the meantime, residents of the city, just like a year ago, are forced to take jugs in any weather and go to the distribution points, of which there are now several dozen in the city, to get drinking water. The city desperately needs everything related to drinking water - treatment facilities, funds for wells, materials to replace the water supply system.
Our CF "Light Deeds" has equipped 12 wells, but not all of them have water treatment systems, and we continue to work in this direction. We desperately need support in water purification and desalination systems based on the principle of reverse osmosis.
Together we will not leave Mykolaiv without water!
